项目摘要

本研究は、文化が人々の精神活動の自然な発露であるという前提に立ち、その活動が政治的、或いは社会的な外圧によって如何なる影響を受けるのか、という大きな問いに対する答えを探求する過程に位置している。外圧の下に改変され全く新たなものとして生まれ変わるのか。それは生き残るための方便に過ぎないのか、それとも改変がそのまま新たな文化として継承されていくのか。あるいは外圧に抗して生き続け、人々の抵抗の原動力となり得るのか。本研究は「満洲国」成立という歴史的、政治的な「事件」を切り取り考察しようとするが、それは一つの身近な例を取り上げたに過ぎず、最近の世界における各種の深刻な問題――ロシアのウクライナ侵攻、香港の民主化運動弾圧、スーダンやカンボジアの内戦などを見据え、そのような外圧に対して文化がどのような役割を果たせるのかという関心に繋がるものでもある。初年度に掲げた当面の具体的目標は以下の三点であった。（1）清末民初の東北史、東北文学に関する資料の収集及び整理、（2）清末民初の東北に於いて文化活動に携わった人物に関する資料の収集及び整理、（3）清末民初の東北で創作された文学・芸術作品の調査及び収集。以上の作業はいずれも中国現地で行う調査を期待して計画されたものであったが、残念ながら研究の開始から今日まで、世界的なコロナ渦の影響を受け、特に中国は現在でも出入国に厳しい制限を設けており、現地調査のめどは立っていない。今年度中の状況の好転を期してはいるが、見通しが全く明るくない中で、前年度の報告にも記したように、日本に残された資料を中心に、日本の明治・大正期（中国の清末民初期）から「満洲国」に至る日中交流の様を観察することを当面の新たな目標として掲げ、後に述べるように「満洲国」研究に新たな視座を提供することを目指している。
