概要本研究は、(1)洪水と向き合う地域社会の研究、(2)飢饉・凶作と向き合う地域社会の研究、(3)幕末維新期まで見通した幕府領支配の研究、の3つの柱を立てて進めている。しかし、今年度は自身の疾病により休業を余儀なくされ、全体として研究を十分に進めることができなかった。2月頃に状況の改善が見られたので、下記の通り研究を再開した。そのため今年度は(1)の作業に集中した。中野市立博物館では、昨年度につづき千曲川沿いの旧柳沢村の畔上家文書について史料調査を実施した。準備期間が短かったためわずかな点数しか調査できなかったが、それでも水害に関する貴重な史料を見出すことができたので、次年度も調査を継続する。長野市立博物館でも昨年度に引き続き赤沼河原新田文書の史料調査を実施した。撮影した史料については現在分析を進めている。同文書は2019年水害の被災資料であるため現在も地元ボランティアの手で保存処置・整理が進められており、その作業からも学びながら研究を進めている。今年度の成果の一部として、赤沼河原新田文書から以下のことなどがわかってきた。①同村が赤沼村から分村した時期に相当する1668年の検地帳の検討により、この新田村の開発過程がうかがえる。②元禄期・安永期にはさらに新田の高入れが行われるが、一方でくり返す水害による耕地の荒地化も甚だしかった。③河川の流路が変わるなどして旱揚地ができると、それをめぐる隣接村どうしの争いがしばしば起きた。④水害を受けた耕地の起返しも少しずつ進められ、代官に掌握されて低率ではあるが年貢を賦課されている。⑤水害を受けた耕地は年貢を免除（低減）されたが、役は免除されなかったため、助郷役負担を洪水被害を受けていない他村にふりかえる動きが見られた。⑤堤防設置をめぐる両岸の争いが多数くりかえされている。以上、いまだ断片的にしか示せていないが、整理して論文化していく。
