本年度は主に次の通り研究を進めた。1．研究対象地である、福井平野、湖東平野、奈良盆地の条里界線と坪界線の企画や方位等について分析を行った。当該地域の条里研究成果に照らし、検証を進めている。2．上記の分析結果について検討を深めるため、日本列島の条里遺構の分布や、各地の条里研究の成果等を、その規格や施工単位、年代等に注目して整理している。このなかで、表層地割と異なる規格で施工された埋没条里が検出されている静岡平野や、駿河国・伊豆国の国境が通り、これを境に条里の方位等が大きく異なる田方平野、北九州と畿内の中間にある、山陽地方のうち、条里と国府遺跡の関係等について論考があり、発掘調査も行われている山口県防府市の国府地域やその周辺など、研究上関心が持たれた地域や、条里遺構が遺存する地域について踏査も行った。3．奈良盆地については、条里施工による耕地開発の展開等について検討する資料とするため、灌漑水利に関わる資料等を収集している。GISアプリケーション上で条里界線や地名データ、条里関連史料の記載内容等と重ね合わせて、関連などを検討できるように、農業用ため池や水路などのデータ化を進めている。全国には洪水等により条里が埋没して再施工されなかったとされる地域や、谷底平野などに数町程度の小条里が散在する地域もある。各地の、条里による開発から近代に至るまでの地割の継続について、地形条件だけでなく、土地所有などの社会的な側面からもアプローチができないか、明治期の土地台帳と地籍図などから検討を試みている。
