Bringing the past into the present: exploring the material culture of disaster

This research aims at clarifying the role of the material culture of disaster in the knowledge and perception of the local environment in relation to risk awareness and resilience. The focus is specifically on water-related disaster and the approach multi-sited (Japan and France).Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, many aspects of the project couldn’t proceed as originally planned. However, fieldworks could finally be conducted fully in AY2022 and brought significant results about several sites in France (specifically Mortagne sur Gironde and La Faute Sur Mer).Two papers are now in their conception phase following these fieldworks and a workshop is planned on related issues.
