本研究の目的は、EUレベルの農業・農村政策と共通市場の影響下におかれたルーマニアの家族経営農家を対象に、その生活実践の多様性と柔軟性を文化人類学的なフィールドワークを手段として明らかにすることにある。しかし、新型コロナウイルスの流行拡大に伴い、研究期間内にヨーロッパに渡航・滞在しての資料収集は非常に困難な状況になった。中心的な手法を文献研究に切り替えて研究を進めたが、一次資料の必要性から研究期間を延長するに至った。本研究は、家族制農業生産の機能と変容についての理解を深めることを大きな目標とし、家族制生産を支えてきた地域の経済的・社会的システムの変容をも視野に収めるものである。その点を踏まえ、文献研究は、地域社会の歴史的文脈の見直しと他地域との比較の2点を中心に進めた。特に、家族制という点に加え、自給自足的なサブシステンス・エコノミーという点に注目した。これまでに、ルーマニアにおけるサブシステンス・エコノミーの連続性、具体的には集団農場においても賃金雇用ではなく、生産した農産物に対する処分権を組合員たちが強く求めたことを問い直すと共に、より大きな政治経済構造の中での変化を捉える上で、東アジアやアフリカの状況との比較研究の必要性を改めて確認した。令和4年度は、前年度に引き続き、西欧への出稼ぎを含めた雇用の可能性と消費財への需要が高まる状況において、農業労働自体がどのような目的と意味を持つのかについての考察を進めた。家族内の共同労働における主と従の関係、労働時間と余暇時間に対するイニシアチブの取り方、農業労働から逃れる手段としての出稼ぎなどに注目して研究を進めた。しかし、聞き取りや観察による一次資料の必要性から研究期間を延長した。
