项目摘要

ロシアによるウクライナ侵攻の影響で、現地調査を断念せざるを得なくなったため、公刊資料の収集・分析と同比較史の視点を取り入れて研究を進めることとした。まず、隣接するサハリン島における戦争と境界変動についての研究を進め、1920－25年の北サハリン保証占領期、および1945年の日ソ戦争史についての論文を発表することができた。これらは、コロナ禍およびウクライナ侵攻以前に収集した資料に加え、ロシア人研究者の献身的な協力によって新たに入手できた資料に依拠している。また、戦争と境界変動の視点から19世紀－21世紀までのサハリン島史を通史的に概観する研究ガイドを英語で執筆し、日露境界史研究の発展にも資することができた。帝国日本の終焉過程については、上記のサハリン島史に加え、南方境界の歴史を視野に入れた比較史研究をさらに進めることができた。従来から続けてきた沖縄に加え、1946-1953年に米軍の統治下にあった奄美群島の歴史に焦点を当てて、資料収集と分析を進めることができた。北方境界と南方境界の帝国の終焉過程を概念化した上で、奄美群島の境界変動史を整理した論文を発表し、境界変動の比較史という方法論的基盤をより強固なものとすることができた。ロシア調査が困難ななか、ロシア語資料については公刊資料の丹念な収集を続けるとともに、北海道文書館（北海道江別市）、鹿児島県立奄美図書館での資料調査をおこない、新たな資料的発見が得られたことは大きな収穫である。口頭報告では、ロシア連邦サハリン州での郷土史関連の国際シンポジウムに招待され、オンラインでの報告をおこない、コロナ禍で顔合わせすることができなかった現地研究者たちと有益な意見交換をすることができた。
