2020年4月以降、コロナ禍のため海外渡航が禁じられたため、海外調査が大幅に遅れたが、2022年2月にモンゴルにおける現地アンケート調査を行った。現在はそれに基づいた潜在的な問題点についての考察を行っている。分担研究者はもちろん、国内外の研究者と遠隔会議システムを利用してヒアリングや意見交換を行い、定性的な評価と課題について整理している。2022年度は3か月に1回のゲスト・スピーカーを招聘しての意見交換会、2か月に一度の研究進捗報告を行ってきた。本研究「『一帯一路』による近隣中小国地域への作用と反作用：政治経済学的ミクロアプローチ」は、中国を取り囲む近隣中小国地域の国民が、中国が推進する「一帯一路」構想について、どのように受け止めているのかを、定量・定性分析を用いて考察するものである。これまでの研究から、「一帯一路」構想が、マクロレベルにおいては国際公共財を供給するものとして歓迎される一方（一帯一路の「作用面」）で、膨張する中国への脅威や反発も増加している（一帯一路の「反作用面」）。研究の遅れから研究期間を1年延長し、これが認められた。この1年は、これまでの研究調査をもとに、成果をまとめるべく、引き続き「一帯一路」が生活にもたらす将来的な不安や課題などについて、近隣中小国地域の国民がどのように考えているか、潜在レベルでの定量・定性分析なども行い、近隣中小国地域が抱える「一帯一路」構想の現在と将来の姿を明らかにしようと試みたいと考えている。
