本研究では，地域のwell-beingをめざす「地域戦略の概念モデル」を構築することを最終目的としている．事例として，地域芸術祭をとりあげている．対象事例における過去データを然るべき手続きを経て入手した．2022年度は住民の認知と態度のデータを分析した．その結果から，当該事例における住民のwell-beingに影響を与える要因の仮説を設定し，これにより，新しい地域形成を実現する戦略モデル構築を開始した．モデル構築にあたっては，デスティネーション系の先行研究から仮説を生成し検証する形で進めている．特に，住民の芸術祭による認知や訪問者との関係性が，新しい地域形成への態度と地域のwell-being に，どのように影響するかを中心に分析を行った．この結果を，2022年度に，西中・増田・海外研究者との共著で国際ジャーナル誌への論文投稿を行い査読中である．また，2022年は，対象となる事例である芸術祭開催年であったため，現在の既存データの解析に追加し，2022年のデータによる訪問者の影響の把握を実施予定である．上記以外のこれまでの成果実績としては，国内学術誌，上記以外の国際ジャーナルへの論文掲載を行っている．また，研究の社会還元として，国内・国際学会での発表， JSTのサイエンスウィンドウにおけるインタビュー記事の掲載等を行っている．本研究を進めてゆく過程で，地域のwell-beingには，地域で実施されるイベントの持続可能性が，地域そのものの持続可能性に，強く影響を及ぼしていることが明確になってきた．コミュニティ形成は地域の持続可能性要因の１つであり，この要因も含めた上で，さらに範囲を拡げた研究の必要性が明らかになってきている．そのため，今後は，既存の住民の認知と態度要因に加え，地域イベントと地域の持続可能性要因を含めた拡張モデルを検討してゆく予定である．
