本研究の目的は、管理会計担当者がどのような経験をつうじて、不正防止の監視役と事業の支援者という2つの役割期待に応えるためのスキルを身につけるのかを探索することである。研究実施計画にもとづき，令和4年度は，計画段階から予定していたA社をリサーチサイトとするプロジェクトに加えて，令和2年度から新たにスタートした会計専門家の経営支援をリサーチサイトするプロジェクトを進めた。A社のプロジェクトでは，令和3年度までのフィールド調査から得られた定性的なデータの分析を行い，若手の会計部門員が新しい業績指標の導入に関与する経験をつうじて，どのように管理会計担当者として必要なスキルを身につけていくかを検討した。分析の結果，業績指標の開発プロセスにおける専門性の高いディスカッション，開発された業績指標に関する経営者への説明といった経験をつうじて，若手の会計部門員は「幅広い会計知識と会計データの利用を想像する力」や「統合的かつ全社的な視点から業務課題をみる能力」を身につけていったことがわかった。また，会計専門家（組織外部の管理会計担当者）のプロジェクトでは，参与観察やインタビュー調査から定性的なデータを収集し，戦略実行のための管理会計ツールの開発をつうじて，会計専門家が中小企業への経営支援から得た現場知識をどのように会計知識に変換していくのかを考察している。現時点までの調査の結果，会計専門家は戦略分析および計画の策定・実行のためのスプレッドシートを使い，経営支援に必要とされる業績指標や行動計画を試行錯誤しながら考案していくことがわかっている。
