ニュース情報に対する事実／虚偽の誤認知を系統的に引き起こす要因として、個人がニュースメディアを使い分けているパターンであるニュースレパートリーに着目した調査・分析を実施した。具体的には、2022年参議院議員選挙後に2021年衆議院議員調査の回答者(n=2400）を対象にしたオンラインパネル調査を実施し、日本の有権者のニュースレパートリー類型を把握するとともに、虚偽情報の接触・識別・拡散行動との関連を定量的に検証した。19種類のニュース情報源利用頻度を非階層クラスター分析に投入して分類したところ、欧米の先行研究で析出されたものと同様の、ソーシャルニュース利用者（ソーシャルメディアの利用頻度が高い）、ニュースミニマリスト（どのニュース情報源も利用頻度が低い）、伝統主義者（伝統的マスメディアの利用頻度が高い）、オンラインニュース追求者（ニュースポータルの利用頻度が高い）、ニュースのハイパーコンシューマー（どのニュース情報源も利用頻度が高い）の5類型のニュースレパートリーグループが析出された。ソーシャルメディア利用頻度が高いニュースレパートリーグループ（ソーシャルニュース利用者、ニュースのハイパーコンシューマー）はニュースミニマリストよりも、虚偽情報への接触数が有意に多かった。虚偽情報の識別力とニュースレパートリーとの間には有意な関連がなかったが、伝統主義者はニュースミニマリストよりも虚偽情報であろうが事実の情報であろうがニュースを拡散する可能性が10％水準で高い傾向がみられた。このことは、伝統的マスメディアを主なニュース情報源としている人々は、ニュース情報を拡散する際に分析的思考が不足している可能性を示唆している。
