本研究の目的は、身体機能の低下した（要介護状態となった）高齢者が施設や在宅で支援者と関わる過程において、どのようにアイデンティティを維持あるいは再構成するのかを明らかにすることであった。この研究成果は、今まで「要介護高齢者」としての否定的なレッテルを貼られ阻害されやすい高齢者に新たな見方を提供することが可能となる。また同時に、支援する側に対して効果的な会話の構築の仕方を提案することができる。今年度は要介護状態にある高齢者への調査がコロナ感染症の対策上不可能であった。2019年1月から我が国で蔓延している新型コロナウィルス感染症は、2021年度に入っても、第３波~第６波と収まることがなかった。協力施設先では、感染予防対策として家族の面会すら厳しく制限をしており外部の研究者による調査は不可能であった。特に、今回の研究目的は対象者とスタッフの会話の場面を収集する必要があり、会話の制限されている施設においては今回の目的に沿ったデータの収集はかなり難しいと判断された。したがって、昨年に引き続きデータが収集できず本研究の成果は出せていない。新規のデータ収集ができないかわりに、前回の科研費の研究（類似の内容）のデータをまとめた。結果を執筆し国内の関連学術誌へ投稿したが、査読の結果、分析手法の変更を伴う大幅な修正が必要であるとの回答であった。２か月間の猶予しなかく、時間的に修正して投稿することは難しく、投稿を最終的に断念した。

The purpose of this study is to reconstitute the low body function (critical care status) and support status in the home.
