本研究は、いじめ防止のための学術的知見を得るため、いじめを傍観するメカニズムとしての多元的無知に着目し、学級内地位認知及びいじめ傍観行動の測定を通して、いじめを誘発する傍観者行動が学級集団の階層性によって規定されるかどうかを明らかにする。第１研究では中学生を対象に学級内地位認知を測定する方法の妥当性、信頼性の検討を行った。学級内地位認知は学級単位でデータを収集するため、集団レベルの分析を行うことが可能であり、この方法をSICS-P（Selected In-class Status Perception)法と名付けた。その結果、SICS-P法が学級内地位認知を測定する方法として妥当であることが確認された。また、各学級の選択比を算出した上でクラスター化を試みた。クラスターとしては、地位上位群が少ない学級、中位層が少ない学級、下位層が少ない学級に分けることが妥当と判断した。第２研究では、いじめの仮想場面を設定した上で、自身のいじめ抑止（傍観）態度に加えて、周囲の他者のいじめ抑止（傍観）態度の予測、集団規範への同調、自身の行動に対する評価懸念を測定し、多元的無知が起こっているか、また、多元的無知が評価懸念を介していじめの傍観行動を促進するかについて検討を行った。その結果、抑止（傍観）態度において、多元的無知はいじめ傍観行動への同調を促進することが明らかになった。また、媒介分析の結果、いじめ抑止態度及び傍観態度において一部、評価懸念の間接効果が確認できた。今後、第１研究と同様に、学級のクラスター化を行い、クラスターごとに評価懸念の間接効果が見られるかどうかを確認していく予定である。
