项目摘要

本年度は個々人が自身の分担を深める一方で、コロナによる移動制限が緩和されたため、対面による内外の会議や調査が実現できたことが大きな変化である。とりわけ９月には、研究代表者や分担者の過半数（小澤、鶴島、菊地、松本、宮野、四日市、諫早）が、兵庫県淡路島において内海における島嶼のあり方を検討する合宿を行い、研究成果の取りまとめについて議論できたことは、本科研を進行させる上で大きな意味があった。中間報告として、本科研のメンバーが複数参加する三つの大きなシンポジウムを開催した。一つは、小澤が企画し諫早がコメンテータをつとめたシンポジウム「危機を前にした人間：西洋中世における環境・災害・心性」（6月19日）である。二つ目は、小澤が企画し鶴島・四日市。高橋が報告した、英国リーズ大学におけるInternational Medieval Congressでの「Borders, Governance, and maritime networks in the Global Middle Ages」（7月4日）という二つの関連する国際会議である。三つ目は、研究代表者と分担者の村田・宮野が報告する2022年度西洋史研究会大会共通論題「13世紀ユーラシアにおけるキリスト教世界とモンゴル帝国」である。いずれの報告においても、北海・地中海・黒海などの海域を視野に入れつつ、危機・境域・異文化接触という、新しい論点との接点を探るという意味で、研究全体を前進させる議論が提起された。いずれの議論も文字化される予定である。活字成果も多岐に渡るが、小澤・鶴島・藤井が寄稿する『岩波講座世界歴史９』と、小澤が編者をつとめ菊地と村田も寄稿するCommunicating Papal Authority in the Middle Agesは、海域研究を中世論と教皇論に組み込んだ点で大きな一歩となった。
