项目摘要

2021年度は主に日本近代仏教運動の日蓮主義とジェンダー、女性の日蓮主義運動家および日蓮主義者の女性観を研究した。顕本法華宗管長の本多日生や、田中智学の日蓮主義運動の中心物の女性観、エリート増に活発的に動いた松平俊子や石原莞爾の東亜連盟運動の中に中心的な役割を果たした小泉菊枝の日蓮主義思想と活動を研究した。同時に、前近代の日蓮および日蓮宗の女性観の展開との繋がりと断絶を考慮し、欧米の仏教学者との共同研究も行なった。2021年8月２４日から２８日までにオンライン開催されたEuropean Association of Japanese Studies(EAJS)の国際学会で科研プロジェクトメンバーを含めて４名とのパネルの形で英語で研究発表を行なった。パネルに基づいて日蓮主義とジェンダーの特集を作成することを決定した。他に研究したテーマは、帝国海軍軍人の日蓮主義、近代日本における日蓮像、映像と仏像と近代美術の世界との関係である。上述の研究により、以前の日蓮主義像と異なり、日蓮主義の多様性が明らかになりつつあると言える。
