本研究は、これまでおもに地域史の文脈から考察されてきた1990年代初頭の革新的な中東和平プロセスの歴史的背景には、実際には1980年代に大国が果たした役割が大きく働いており、なかでも英・日の市民のパレスチナ観の変化が重要な位置づけにあったという仮説にたつ。その仮説にもとづき、1980年代のアラブ・イスラエル戦争における英・日の動向を考察し、この時代の和平プロセスの歴史を再構築することを目的とした。しかし、1)出産・育児による休暇を取ったことと、2)COVID-19の影響で史料収集を予定通り行うことができなかったことが原因で、研究の中心的課題であった1980年代の中東における大国間政治を十分に考察することができなかった。代わりに、手持ちの史料やオンラインツールを使用したインタビューによって、1970年-80年代の中東国際政治におけるイギリスの立ち位置を確認した。その結果、イギリスはアラブ諸国との相互依存関係を模索しつつ、石油市場におけるアメリカの覇権的地位をサポートするという「二面的」な対応を取っていたことを明らかにした。この研究成果は、2022年3月刊行の『国際政治』に掲載した。こうした二面的石油政策において、パレスチナ支援はアラブ諸国との関係を深めるための重要なツールであると認識されるようになり、1979年からはとくにその傾向が強くなったことも確認した。この研究成果は現在チャプターとして執筆中で、2023年にRoutledgeから刊行予定の著書に掲載する。

This study examines the background of the history of Middle East peace in the early 1990s and the important position of the history of Middle East peace in the early 1980s. The history of peace in the 1980s was re-constructed with the aim of investigating the current trends in the war. 1) Production, education, leisure, 2) The impact of COVID-19, the collection of historical data, the pre-determined communication, the reasons, the central subject of research, the 1980s Middle East, the politics of the great powers, The history of the Middle East from the 1970s to the 1980s was confirmed. As a result, the interdependence between countries has been modeled, and the status of the oil market has been reduced to two sides. The results of this research were published in the March 2022 issue of International Politics. The oil policy of the two sides is very important, and the relationship between the two countries is very important. The results of this research will be published in a book scheduled for publication in 2023.
