项目摘要

今年度、報告者は、大きく下記の２つの課題の実現に向けて、取り組んだ。すなわち、（１）小川未明に関する単著（学術書）の出版、（２）日本近代（児童）文学・思想史に関する知見の拡充の２点である。まず、（１）小川未明に関する単著（学術書）の出版についてだが、今年度報告者は、『転向者・小川未明――「日本児童文学の父」の影』（北海道大学出版会、2020年12月）と題する単著の出版を行った。これは、日本近代童話の祖である小川未明の全業績を総合的に再考したもので、本研究課題の集大成と言える研究書（全494頁）である。本書の出版にあたっては、昨年度、申請の上、採択された２つの出版助成金を活用した。すなわち、日本学術振興会が提供する科学研究費補助金「研究成果公開促進費（学術図書）」および北海道大学が提供する「学術成果刊行助成（図書の刊行）」の２つの助成金である。また、本書の刊行にあたっては、新潟県上越市にある小川未明文学館や東京駒場にある日本近代文学館等の協力のもと、少年期から晩年に至る未明に関する写真を多数、図版として掲載することができた。次に、（２）日本近代（児童）文学・思想史に関する知見の拡充についてだが、上記の出版作業と並行して、今年度報告者は、５つの論文発表（査読有り３、査読無し２。一部、掲載予定のものを含む）と、２回の学会発表（国内１、国外１）を行った。これは、小川未明より一世代前の児童文学者・巌谷小波（1870～1933年）の業績について再評価を試みたものが中心となっている。これらの研究活動により、報告者の日本近代（児童）文学・思想史に関する知見は、一層深まった。そして、その研究成果を、上述の単著『転向者・小川未明――「日本児童文学の父」の影』の内容に盛り込むことができた。以上の事由から、2020年度における報告者の研究は、極めて順調に進展したものと結論付けられる。
