项目摘要

ローマンコンクリートで建造された古代ローマ建造物や石材などの歪み、あるいは辻褄合わせといったモノの形の僅かな変化をレーザー実測の結果から検出し、それを基に建物の建造過程や計量用の石材の窪みの掘削過程などの一端を明らかにした。２０２０年４月から２０２１年９月までコロナ渦で現地調査に赴けず、研究計画の変更を余儀なくされ、既に実測した２０１９年度のデータを含めた所属研究室所有の３次元実測データを基に分析し、研究成果を雑誌論文や国際学会などで発表した。オスティア遺跡の交差ヴォールトに関する成果では、円筒ヴォールトを交差した形であるという、従来の交差ヴォールトの建造過程では想定できない痕跡を交差ヴォールトの稜線に見出し、その建造過程の一端を明らかにした。計量升に関する成果では、オスティアに現存する計量升の窪みの形に半球と半球からの逸脱が混在していることを明らかにし、半球を掘った後、部分的に掘り進めることで現在確認される窪みの形となることを指摘した。窪みの半球をあえて崩す操作として、容積の微調整が想定される。また、ポンペイの計量升の容量計測の事例を参考にして、計量升と直接の関係性は不明だが、ヘルクラネウム出土の鉛製の桶や青銅製の個人用浴槽の容量を計測した。木製格子窓に関する成果では、ヘルクラネウムのモザイク・アトリウムの家において、各格子の内側に溝が存在することを新たに指摘し、木製格子に板ガラスを嵌めたとする既往研究の学説を補完した。ただし、遺構の状況から判断し、窓枠が軒先と控え壁にはめ込まれた可能性は低いことを新たに指摘した。エジプトのニュー・メニア採石場址に関する成果では、石灰岩の切り出しの初期の段階で、自然亀裂を手掛かりとして石材切り出しの区画を決定している可能性を明らかにした。以上の成果は、いずれもレーザー実測の結果から得られた、モノそのものの形から得られた知見である。
