本研究は、19世紀末以降、急進化するナショナリズムに距離を取った「マーネス造形芸術家協会」（以下「マーネス協会」）というプラハの芸術家団体が、第一次世界大戦を経てナショナリズムに傾倒していく過程を明らかにするものである。新型コロナウイルス感染症の影響で、本来3年であった科研費の使用期間を3年半に延長してもらった。その影響で、前年度の研究実績報告では2020年4月から2022年3月までの内容を報告する形になった。したがって、ここでは2022年4月以降の実績について報告する。前年度からの研究対象であったフランタ・アニーシュという芸術家・実業家について調査を進め、2022年7月に東欧史研究会にて報告を行った。帝国軍にコミットしたアニーシュは、戦後ネイションへの裏切り者として非難され、マーネス協会からも追放された。マーネス協会がナショナリズムとの距離を縮めた背後には、このような「無関心」を消す試みがあったことを明らかにした。また、銃後に留まった芸術家たちの経験についても調査を進めていった。2022年9月にプラハに渡航し、必要な史料の収集を進めた。これらをもとに研究を進めた結果、銃後のマーネス協会が経済難に陥っており、それまで連帯することのなかった他の「チェコ民族」（原文ママ）の団体と連携して自助活動を展開していたことが分かった。また、国はマーネス協会への補助金をカットした一方、ウィーンの芸術家には手厚い経済支援を行っていた。このような不平等とチェコ民族としての連帯の経験が戦後のチェコスロヴァキア国家の支持に繋がったと分析する。現在は、初年度からの研究をまとめ、博士論文を執筆中である。戦前にナショナリズムに距離のあった団体が戦後にナショナリズムに傾倒した過程を示すことで、ハプスブルク君主国の解体の要因を戦前からのナショナリズムの高まりに見出す従来の歴史観の見直しを図る。
