今年度は、研究課題である「政治的図像学」および「技術的イメージ」と関わるダイアグラムについて研究の進展があった。まず前者に関しては、ドイツの歴史家パーシー・エルンスト・シュラムのとりわけ1920年代のテクストに絞って分析を行った。そこではオットー朝をはじめとする中世ドイツ皇帝の視覚表象が主題化されているが、本研究は彼の厳密な歴史学的論証手続きに垣間見える「剰余」に目をつけた。というのも、皇帝、引いては中世一般に対する彼の学術的議論の方向性を背後で規定していたのは、中世写本に描かれたイメージからシュラムが受け取ったある特定の心性であったように思われるからである。それを「栄光」という美学的・神学的概念によってとらえようと試みた。他方、当該年度後半はダイアグラムという観点からイメージ研究の可能性を探った。採用期間の初年度に取り組んでいたアビ・ヴァールブルクのイメージ研究をあらためて取り上げ、彼の思索を駆動していた図式（ダイアグラム）的知のあり方について詳細な分析を試みた。初期のメモ書きから一貫して彼が図式的なスケッチを残していたことを調査したのち、そのような走り書きに結晶化している思考の類型が晩年のプロジェクトである「ムネモシュネ・アトラス」にまで引き継がれていることを確認した。こうした実践は、重層的な意味と時間性を帯びたイメージのあいだの連関をさぐりながら、「仮の」ナラトロジーを見つけだすために必要となる技法であったと結論づけた。採用期間全体を通して、イメージを時間や歴史を媒介するものとしてとらえなおす視点が浮かび上がってきた。イメージの内部に畳み込まれている歴史編纂術への洞察の手がかりを得られたことが、本研究を通しての最大の収穫であったといえるだろう。
