本研究は、近代東アジアにおける文化的・身体的越境の様相を多元的・複眼的にとらえることを研究の目的とする。近代日本を代表する舞踊家石井漠（1886―1962)、石井漠の弟子である朝鮮の崔承喜（1921-1969)と台湾の蔡瑞月（1921-2005）の芸術活動の軌跡を調べ、近代東アジアにおける文化的モダニティの様相を究明するに注目して研究を進めている。2022年度は、コロナの影響も多少改善され、2021年度よりは資料調査のための海外渡航も容易な状況となった。しかし、渡航先は主に韓国で、本研究の当初計画していた資料調査地の一つである台湾は規制が厳しいため、渡航することができなかった。崔承喜に関する資料を調べる中で、モダンダンスは民族美学と深い関わりあることがわかった。そのような視点で、石井漠についての研究も日本の民族美学のコンテクストから研究を進めた。2022年度の研究成果は、2022年9月29日にWongkang Universityの東北アジア人文社会研究所で「石井漠と植民地朝鮮－囚われ人を中心に」というタイトルで講演し、論文を発表した。また2023年3月のボストンで開かれたアジア学会で<The Vitality of Korean Aesthetics in Clothing, Folk Paintings, and Localized White Porcelain>のセッションで発表した。
