项目摘要

本研究は，鍵盤楽器歴史研究の一環として，18世紀，19世紀におけるイギリス式ピアノの止音装置ダンパーの変遷と，ペダリングを含むピアノ演奏法との関わりを解明することを目指すものであった．今年度は研究計画書に示した実地調査のうち，国立音楽大学楽器学資料館において，製作年代、形状の異なる7台のブロードウッドのフォルテピアノ（1791年スクエア，1817-18年アップライト・グランド，1820年グランド，1830年スクエア，1843-52年キャビネット，1850年グランド，1900年グランド）を，ダンパーに使われた素材の変遷と止音効果との関わりに注目して調査した．1790年代-1830年代のダンパーにはクロスが用いられていたが，1850年代以降のそれはフェルトに変わっていた．このことは一昨年度に行った，特許に関する文献調査で得られた結果を裏付けるものである．1850年以降の2台のグランドのダンパーは形状が異なっており，それに伴い止音効果が異なっていることが確認された．すなわち一続きのフェルトが用いられた1850年グランドは残響が残りやすい特徴を残していた．従って，クロスからフェルトへの素材の変化が単純に止音効果と直結していたわけではなく，段階的に止音効果が高められていった可能性が考えられる．この問題を明らかにするためには，1850年代以降に製作されたジョン・ブロードウッド＆サンズの楽器をより多く調査することが不可欠である．同資料館が所蔵する1830年代スクエアで，ジョン・フィールド《ノクターン》第1番を，初版に記されたペダリングに忠実に試奏し，モダン・ピアノとの差異を確認した．今年度は，所属機関においてフォルテピアノを主題とした公開講座を実施した（4月27日、10月12日）．このうち後者は，演奏者に河江優氏と三橋桜子氏を招き，歴史的鍵盤楽器を用いた演奏とレクチャーを行った。
