本年もコロナ禍のため海外調査研究は出来なかった。そのため国内での制作研究及び水墨表現の調査を行った。 制作研究では日本画独自の画面を生み出すために表現と技法の両方から研究を行った。昨年に引き続き1・和紙の質感を活かしながら岩絵具による存在感がある背景の研究と、2・筆墨表現と和紙の素材によって画面に生まれる時空間の研究を中心に研究を行った。これらの研究によって2点「きえのこる庭」と「震れる」の制作を行った。 １においては草木染めによって和紙の質感を活かしながら強度がある背景（地）の研究を行い、一定の成果を得ることが出来た。さらに図の描写には岩絵具の質感を強調した表現を加えることによって表現の幅を広げることが出来た。２においては褐筆とたらし込みによって、身体的な移動を伴う多視点に加え、観念的な時間や空間を認識できる多視点に誘う表現を研究した。これら１と２の研究によって一つの画面に岩絵具による描写と墨による描写を共存させ、和紙の地の質感を含め異なる三つの質感を共存させることに成功した。これら三つの異なる質感は単なる質の違いを超えて、即物的なものと観念的なものとの両方に鑑賞者を誘い、鑑賞者と画面が能動的な関係をむずび、新たな体験を生み出すと考えている。この体験は日本画独自の質感によるものであり、東洋画の中でも日本独自のものとなると考えられる。「きえのこる庭」はグループ展において発表し、樹木の褐筆による描写が評価を受けた。「震れる」は日展において発表し、特選を受賞し、褐筆の描写にたらし込みを加え、岩絵具の表現と和紙の質感を活かした背景に関して評価を得ることができた。
