项目摘要

本研究はヴェトナム系アメリカ人アーティストのディン・Q・レの作品を通して、ヴェトナム戦争表象の新たな模索を分析するものである。レは従来のヴェトナム戦争表象が米兵の経験に焦点を当てており、ヴェトナムの視点が欠落していることに違和感を覚え、その違和感をもとにヴェトナム戦争関係の作品を多く発表してきた。レの作品は視覚芸術が中心であるため、先行研究は美術研究の文脈で分析したものがほとんどである。しかし、レの作品は米国で発表された過去のヴェトナム戦争表象を換骨奪胎して、新たな作品へと創造した者が多い。本研究では、レの作品を美術研究ではなく、ヴェトナム戦争表象の流れの中で分析し、レが従来のヴェトナム戦争表象にどのような異議申し立てをしようとしているかを明らかにすることを目的としている。2019年度、2020年度ともに海外での調査を予定していたが、新型コロナウィルス感染拡大のために海外での調査ができなくなった。2020年度末より海外での調査が実施できない場合でも研究を深めることが可能な方向を模索し、2021年度には、博物館の研究を中心とした集合的記憶とその表象についての先行研究をレの作品分析に応用することを考えた。2019年度、2020年度に試みようとしていた方法から変えたため、それまで蓄積してきたことと新たな試みとに整合性をつけることがやや難航している。しかし、博物館等の集合的記憶の表象についての先行研究をレの作品分析に応用することは2022年度と同様に可能と考えている。
