项目摘要

本研究の目的は、映画『ヒロシマ・モナムール』（1959年）の公開当時、フランスおよび日本で作品がもたらした反応の全体像を把握することである。具体的には、①映画体験の再構成、②1959年当時の日本とフランスにおける文脈の再構成、③1959年の日本とフランスの受容の再構成である。そして、この目的を果たすための方法として計画されたのが、 (a)デュラス側の『ヒロシマ・モナムール』の構想と脚本の生成に関する草稿類からの調査、(b)アラン・レネ側の『ヒロシマ・モナムール』関係資料の調査、(c)『ヒロシマ・モナムール』公開時の日本の反応に関する調査（雑誌・新聞）、(d)『ヒロシマ・モナムール』公開時のフランスの反応に関する調査（雑誌・新聞）であった。初年度の2019年度には (b)、(c)、（d）に関わる研究を行った。2020年度・2021年度は、新型コロナウィルスの世界的蔓延に由来する渡航制限のため、現地調査を行う当初の研究計画を変更し、収集済みの国内外の文献・映像資料の整理・分析作業を行い、作品が上映された時代の日仏の文化的環境の理解を深めることに努めた。本年度2022年度は、国外調査を再開することが可能となり、二年間の国内作業で蓄積した研究成果をもとに、フランス国立図書館で資料収集を行い、本研究にとって重要な要石となる、いくつかの雑誌・記事を発見することができた。その結果、『ヒロシマ・モナムール』が当時のフランスに引き起こした反応の具体的な輪郭を辿ることができ、本研究を大きく前進させることとなった。また、主役に岡田英次が起用されたことについても、従来の理解とは別の証言を発見することができた。
