项目摘要

本研究では、小学校の英語イマージョン教育における家庭学習（多読活動）の実態調査を行う。家庭学習の実施状況、ニーズ、および課題を明らかにし、生徒および保護者への学習支援体制の構築を目的とする。4年目（2022年度）は主にデータ整理、分析を行った。前年度に収集した英語イマージョン校6年生（2021年度；16名）の読書記録を分析し、その傾向を探った。家庭における自主的な個別の多読活動は様々な理由により実施が困難であり、学級担任（英語母語話者）の協力を得て授業の一環で行う自由読書の記録も調査対象とした。読書記録には9項目（タイトル、著者、ページ数、好きな登場人物、気に入った部分の引用、単語、レビュー、本を勧めたい相手、星による評価）の記載欄があり、レビューの記載言語は日本語、英語、絵も含めて自由な形式での表現を許可したところ、絵のみ、または絵と文字を組み合わせた記録表現が多くみられた。Mackenzie(2011)によると、子どものライティング学習初期段階では、文字だけでなく、絵による表現を積極的に統合することで、意味の理解と表現、ライティング能力の向上につながると言われている。本研究でも絵と文字を統合させた読書記録の評価方法について検討し、子どもが取り組みやすいアウトプット形式を整えることで読書、および読み書き活動の促進につながるよう提案したい。また、保護者へのアンケート、学級担任へのインタビューも分析中である。本研究の協力者は小学校の途中からイマージョン校へ転入しており、それぞれ生徒の背景も異なることから、家庭での様子、クラスの特徴、個別性について明らかにすることで、より一般的な公立小学校における英語多読活動への示唆が得られると考えられる。
