项目摘要

東アジアで栽培化され中央アジアを経由して青銅器時代以降にヨーロッパまで到達し、主要な栽培穀物に加わったと予測される雑穀(キビ・アワ)の、ユーラシア拡散の時期や経路を検討するため、その有力な拡散ルートと考えられる黒海北側ステップ地帯をフィールドとして調査・分析を実施している。その方法論は、種子同定の確実性が高い土器圧痕同定法であるレプリカ法と、雑穀が持つC4植物という特性を生かした炭素窒素同位体分析が中心となる。またこれまでは穀物の時期を圧痕検出土器の土器編年により推定してきたが、同定穀物のより詳細な時期比定のために、土器付着炭化物のAMS年代測定を実施することとした。しかしながら2019年秋のウクライナ国立アカデミー考古学研究所での調査を最後に、コロナ禍とロシアによるウクライナ侵攻により計画していた現地調査は全く実施できていない。そこで2020年からは、既に2019年の調査で採取済みの土器付着炭化物や人骨・動物骨サンプルのAMS年代測定と炭素窒素同位体分析を前倒しで実施し、2022年度末までに全サンプルの測定を終了した。本年度はそれらのデータを分析して論文を国際誌に投稿するため分担研究者と共に検討中である。
