沖縄島本部半島山里の円錐カルストにおけるコックピットにおいて，昨年度開始した石灰岩の溶食速度を実測するための野外実験を継続するとともに，本年度はコックピットの周囲に分布する円錐丘で同様の実験を開始し，コックピットと円錐丘における溶食速度の対比を行った。実験に用いた石灰岩試料は，調査地で採取した中生界三畳系の今帰仁層石灰岩を用いた。円錐丘で実験を開始するにあたり，斜面測量と斜面構成物質の把握，土壌深の計測をおこない，実験地を決定した。調査地の円錐丘は，頂部ではピナクルと岩塊が主体であり，斜面上はそれらに加え，厚さ20～30cm程度の土壌が部分的に覆っている。新規実験地は，円錐丘の頂部1地点，斜面上の2地点（中腹と山麓部），それに延長するコックピット内の2地点（縁辺部と中央部）である。これら実験地において地上（高さ1.0～1.5m）や土層中（深さ0.2～1.0m）に石灰岩試料を設置し，試料の重量減少量を実験期間中の溶食量とし，溶食速度を求めた。実験の結果，地上および円錐丘の斜面上に設置した石灰岩試料では，今年度の実験期間である43日間では重量減少は殆どみられなかった。一方，コックピット内に設置した石灰岩試料は，初期重量に対し0.3％強の重量が減少しており，円錐丘によりもコックピットにおいて溶食速度が大きいという結果が得られた。
