FDIの標準的な企業異質性モデルでは、海外関係会社が全部所有されている場合を考えている。しかし、多くの部分所有の海外関連会社が存在する。本研究プロジェクトにおいては、企業の異質性を考慮した標準的な外国直接投資の理論であるHelpman et al. (2004)に基づき、様々な所有構造を許容する外国直接投資の部分均衡モデルを構築し、生産性と海外子会社の所有構造の関係に関する検証可能な仮説を提示した。東洋経済新報社の海外進出企業データや経済産業省の企業活動基本調査・海外事業活動基本調査などの日本のマイクロデータを用いた実証分析から、生産性の高い企業は、関連会社の所有比率が高い傾向にあることを明らかにした。また、生産性の低い企業は、ジョイントベンチャーを選択する傾向があることを実証的に示した。研究成果は、以下の英文査読論文として公刊した。査読者からの指摘を受けて、理論モデルのパラメータに現実的な制約を課すなどして、論文の精緻化を試みた。Tadashi Ito and Ayumu Tanaka.
