本研究の目的は、経済が発展していくにもかかわらず、児童労働が増加する現象のメカニズムを明らかにすることである。スキル偏向型の技術進歩のもとでは、高い技能を持つ労働者に対する需要を増加させ、結果として、高い技能を持った労働者の所得が増え、低技能労働者への需要は減少させることが知られている。そこで、経済成長モデルにおいて、児童労働の需要サイドの要因を考慮することにより、児童労働の拡大を説明することを試みている。令和４年度は、低開発の罠が生じるシンプルなモデルに、高い技能を持った労働者と低技能労働者という異質な労働者がそれぞれの比較優位に基づき職業選択を行う動学モデルの構築を行った。共同研究者の伊ヶ崎は、児童労働と経済成長の問題を再検討しており、政府の規制がなければ経済の発展とともに低スキルの労働者の割合が上昇し、革新的な生産技術が駆逐され、児童労働がなくならないことを示した。この研究成果を論文にまとめ九州経済学会年報に掲載された。また、低開発経済において、児童労働の解消に向けた教育政策の分析も行っており、令和オ4年度の後半は論文の精緻化を行い、論文投稿を行った。
