Hermann Korner's Middle Low German World Chronicle is an independent piece of historiography, an important textual witness, and a valuable written source on the history of the Reich and the Hansa in the late medieval period. Due to specific settings about 1900 there is no historico-critical edition of this extraordinary chronicle. Only 15 percent of the text has been published in many different places. A historico-critical edition is badly needed, since it's absence has always been noticed and especially since new questions have directed the attention of scholars to this text repeatedly. The first publication will stimulate current research on Hanseatic eltites and lay a solid foundation for future investigation.
