本年度は、前々年度同様、戦時下の看護婦不足の実態を把握するための、軍部の対応と厚生省の施策に基づく看護婦不足の実態を把握するための調査を計画していた。また、前年度の調査課題として位置付けていた、看護婦不足と養護訓導の量的確保の関係を明らかにするための行政文書、養成施設文書などの資料調査も予定してた。さらに、本年度の研究課題である養護訓導養成所の教育課程、とりわけ戦局悪化に伴う教育内容の軽減、養成期間の短縮、臨時講習会による資格速成付与などに関する資料、試験検定による資格付与の関係資料の収集を予定していた。しかし、この間の新型コロナ蔓延状況により、各種図書館の外部利用者の利用制限が実施されたことで、調査を進めることが困難となった。特に、北海道大学附属図書館、同大学医学部附属図書館は、研究を進めるうえで主要な役割を担ってきたが、コロナの蔓延状況の影響で、学外利用者の制限により研究を進めるにあたって大きな影響を受けた。資料調査ができない状況下で、前年度に引き続き、以前収集した資料の整理を行った。北海道内の公共図書館で利用者制限の緩和が行われ、かつ学校衛生関係資料の所蔵と閲覧が可能と確認できた函館市立図書館で資料調査を行った。当時の地元の小学校資料を閲覧することができた。ただし、養護訓導に関する資料について研究上の成果を得ることはできなかった。
