この研究は、日本の子どもの認知発達および社会性や行動の発達の特徴や問題点を検討することを目的としている。今回は、１）最近70年間のわが国の子どもの精神発達の変遷とその特徴について、新版K式発達検査標準化のために収集された資料を分析することにより明らかにする、２）子どもの精神発達および社会性や行動の発達について、養育環境や生活習慣などの環境要因との関連を明らかにする、３）日本の子どもの発達を諸外国の子どもの発達と比較し、わが国の特徴を明らかにする、などについて研究をすすめている。2022年（令和4年）度は、１）に関しては、2020年度までに収集した子どもから成人約3500人の「新版K式発達検査2020の」標準化資料と1983年に収集した「新版K式発達検査1983」の資料の比較を行なった。その結果、多くの発達課題では大きな変化がなかったのに対し、子どもの特定の領域の発達は時代とともに、促進してきている領域や遅延している領域のあることが明らかになった。例えば、赤・青・黄・緑を答える「色の名称」課題では、40年間で約12か月の発達の促進が認められた。一方、、正方形や三角形をまねて描く「図形模写」課題では10～11か月の遅延が、折り紙をまねて折る「折り紙」課題では、5～6か月の遅延が認められた。また、2001年に収集した「新版K式発達検査2001」との比較でも変化が認められ、研究論文として報告した。２）３）については、１）で得られた結果を詳細に検討するためにフィンランドヘルシンキ大学のSilvertoinen教授に、今後の検討課題について相談した結果、共同研究をして行くことになって、そのためのデータ入力を行った。
