令和4年度も、コロナ禍のため、十分な現地調査ができなかったが、大阪市と横浜市へは現地調査を実施した。小中学校や高校への十分な調査が行えないため、当該年度から伝統文化の対象を日本歴史に絞り、特に、大学の一般教養教育としての日本史学習のカリキュラムの構築作業に研究内容を変更した。従って、研究課題名のメインタイトルの「日本文化理解教育の教育課程開発に関する実証的研究」はそのままで、サブタイトルとして「大学の教養教育としての日本史の教育課程開発を中心としてー」を付与することにした。これらの変更後の成果は、令和5年4月発刊の『徳川将軍の治世と人物像』(風間書房、260頁、単著)として、公開した。この著作は、徳川歴代将軍の治世や歴史的意義、各人の人物像をわかりやすく図版を多用し、日本歴史に興味関心を持ってもらい、さらには、講義の受講生各人が発展的に自発的学習を促すよう工夫した内容構成を取っている。教養教育としての日本史教育は、今後一層進展する国際化社会の中にあって、非常に重要であると考え、特に理系の学生は高校時代に日本史学習を受けていない者も多いことから、教養教育としての日本史教育は不可欠と考える。自国の伝統文化や歴史に対する深い理解や愛著なくして、真の国際化人とはいえない。このため、日本史学習の面白さや奥深さ、日本人や日本という国家の特質を江戸時代の政治史を通して理解できるような内容構成を取っている。
