项目摘要

令和4年度は、前年度の調査結果を踏まえ、博労小学校所蔵作品のうち大正期に制作された尋常科児童図画作品の調査を実施した。大正期には山本鼎による児童自由画運動があり、博労小学校の図画作品にもその影響がみられ、大正期半ば以降の卒業記念画には風景画が多く、それ以前の作品には臨画が多くあることを確認している。これまでの大正期の作品に関する調査においては自由画運動の影響を確認したが、児童作品と図画教科書掲載図版との照合は行っておらず、今年度の調査で教科書及び児童作品の調査を行い、作品制作において使用された教科書や画題の特定を行った。その結果、当時の児童が明治期に発行された国定教科書のほか、国定教科書発行前に出版されていた小学校用の図画教科書、明治、大正期に発行された中等学校用の図画教科書を参考にしたとみられる作品を残していたことがわかった。特定した画題から、臨画とみられる作品には花や鳥、魚、生活道具、野菜、風景などが含まれていることを確認した。また、卒業記念画の中には、教科書に掲載されていたモノクロの絵を臨画し児童が彩色を施したものや、他の図版を組み合わせた作品を確認することができた。画題の特定から、大正期の国定教科書時代において、明治期の小学校用図画教科書や、中学校及び高等女学校用図画教科書を参考に多様なテーマの作品が制作されていたことが明らかとなった。当時、専科指導が行われていた同校図画教育において、多様な資料を活用した指導がなされていたことが推察される。調査を通じて、当時の図画教育や児童の図画表現における教科書の使用実態を把握することができた。
