项目摘要

2022年度は、長引くコロナ禍により今年度も祭りを縮小する地域が多い中で、withコロナを模索し芝居絵展示を行う地域も確認できた。しかし、絵馬台の運搬や組み立てを行うための人材不足により展示を断念、あるいは展示方法を簡素化した地域があり、コロナ禍のみならず担い手不足が祭事の縮小に影響を与えている状況が確認された。今年度の概略を以下にまとめる。①芝居絵屏風が飾られる神社の氏子地域の範囲、並びにその区域の土地利用の把握を行った。これにより氏子地域における芝居絵展示の空間的意味合いを考察するとともに、社会基盤から祭礼の維持継承に関わる課題について考察した。農村的地域では、神社祭礼が地域の結びつきを強めるものとして、PTAや自治会などの地域組織と連携を図ることで維持が図られる事例が確認された。しかし、子どもたちが楽しめる参加型の行事が中心となるため、芝居絵展示が担う役割の低下が窺われた。一方、都市的地域では、芝居絵が空間演出装置あるいは文化・観光資源として、氏子もしくは地域内外の運営組織によって、神賑行事や観光行事を中心とした祭事が行われた。これらの地域では、地域全体の人口は一定数存在し、祭事自体は賑わうものの氏子の数は減少傾向にあり、氏子組織の維持や祭礼の核となる神事の催行に問題がうかがわれる。②過去に芝居絵展示が行われていた神社・地域についても、当時の空間利用を可能な限り把握し、氏子区域の土地利用について調査を行った。そのうち、かつての農村的地域において住宅地化が進んだ地域や、交通の変化により都市的性格を失うなど、社会基盤に変化が見られた地域では、祭礼自体の維持が難しく縮小傾向にあることがわかった。③祭礼の空間・社会的基盤について、祭礼に携わっている人々のうち、特に次世代を担う若年層（小学生～大学生）を中心に聞き取りを行った。
