本研究では、第一段階で乾燥した舌苔を浸軟させる効果的な方法を検証する。第二段階で、擦過圧力と擦過回数を統一し、2種類の舌清掃道具を用いて健康高齢者に舌ケアを行い、その効果を比較検証する。第三段階として、第一段階、第二段階で効果の高かった方法にて、舌苔を有する高齢者に対して舌ケアを行い、その有用性を検証することを目的としている。新型コロナウイルス感染症の影響を受け、実施時期の予測が立てづらく、高齢者に対する介入の実施が困難な状況である。現在のところ、第一段階のみ検証済みである。2022年度は、第二段階を実施する予定であったが、実施を予定していた8月と12月に新型コロナウイルス感染症の第7波、第8波の影響を受け、実施することができなかった。
