项目摘要

本研究は、アメリカにおいてリンチの歴史がどのように記憶されてきたかを、近年の博物館展示や地域レベルでの記憶化の取り組みなどを例に包括的に検討するものである。具体例として、（1）ワシントンDC 国立アフリカ系アメリカ人歴史文化博物館の展示（2016年秋開館）、（2）アラバマ州モンゴメリー市「平和と正義のための国立記念碑」（2018年春完成）、（3）ジョージア州 1946年のリンチ事件「再演」行事（2005年より毎年7月開催）、の3つを取り上げる。これにより、国レベルの公的記憶と地域レベルでの集合的記憶の形成を考察することを目的とする。本研究はコロナ禍で研究期間を一年延長したが、2022年度も海外渡航の計画を見送ったため、上記の事例研究のうち（3）のジョージア州への視察を実施することができなかった。よって、本年度も入手済み関連文献の整理を続けたほか、オンライン・データベース等を通じて新たな文献を収集した。また、本研究課題と関連するようなテーマを扱った成果発信をおこなった。具体的なテーマとしては、ブラック・ライヴズ・マター（BLM）運動と南部連合のシンボルの問題、リンチ未遂事件に発端した1921年のタルサ人種虐殺をめぐる記憶の問題などが挙げられる。これに加えて、一般向けのオンラインセミナーにも講師として複数回登壇し、BLM運動、ブラック・フェミニズムとインターセクショナリティ、公民権運動の歴史叙述などに関する講演をおこなった。
