本研究は、対外開放下のミャンマー農村における人口停滞と社会経済構造の変容の特質とメカニズムについて解明することを目的とする。そのため、代表者が過去に調査を実施した農村において、村落調査及び世帯悉皆調査を実施することを計画していた。初年度には、調査候補地で予備調査を実施し、調査対象村を選定し、次年度以降、予備調査の結果を基に、質問票を作成し本調査を実施することを計画していた。しかし、新型コロナ感染症の拡大および2021年2月の政変以降の情勢悪化により、本格的な現地調査を実施することができないため、これによらず研究を行ってきた。東南アジア農村では、人口の都市部や非農業部門への移動が進み、農業重要度が低下する一方で、農地面積の拡大や農業生産の向上がみられる。今年度は、これに関する論文を公表したほか、ミャンマーにおいて政変後の回復が堅調で農村から流出する女子若年層に雇用機会を提供している縫製産業についての分析について分析し、学会で報告した。さらに、本研究の基となったタンダピン郡での世帯悉皆調査のデータを再度精査し、農業労働力の流出と農地の流動化に関する分析を進めた。なお、政変直後は、多くの人が都市から農村に戻ったが、民主派に対する軍の武力弾圧は、農村部で激化しており、農村から都市部、更に国外への労働力流出が拡大している。本研究が当初想定した要因とは異なるが、農村の労働力流出は拡大し、それによる人口停滞に陥っていると見込まれる。調査対象地における状況には、現地調査によって把握可能である。当初の予定で最終年度となった2022年度には、ヤンゴン市内および近郊農村で調査を実施したが、長期に農村に滞在し、詳細な調査を実施するのは不可能な状況であった。そのため、補助事業期間延長し、研究の完成を目指すこととした。

This study aims at explaining the characteristics of population stagnation and social structure in rural areas under the opening-up policy. The survey was conducted in rural areas, villages and communities. In the past, the government has been directly involved in the development of the country, and many people have been involved in the development of the country. This study was originally intended to determine the main reasons for the increase in rural labor outflows and the stagnation of population. Investigation of the situation in the field is possible. In 2022, the survey will be conducted in urban and suburban areas, and the detailed survey will be conducted in rural areas for a long time. The duration of the grant is extended and the completion of the study is indicated.
