项目摘要

昨年度（2021年度）に引き続き、今年度も計画していた調査研究のうち、実地調査についてはコロナ禍の影響によって計画通りに実施することができなかった。したがって、可能な範囲で関連学会や研究会等で中間報告を行ない、今後の計画及び次年度の成果発表などを検討した。具体的には、現地調査については、未だよそ者の現地入りに対する抵抗があり、調査対象地である高知県については昨年度末に仁淀川町の地域の宮司と氏子を対象に実施したアンケート調査結果の集計と分析に取り組んだ。アンケート調査の結果、調査地域における神社の実態や神社に対する氏子意識において、部分的な地域差を除き、目立った差異が見られなかった。そのことから祭祀体系が集落の祭祀集団（実質氏子）を軸とする独自の構造をもって維持継承されており、大きな構造的な変化はしていないことを示唆した。他方で、自由記述の回答では、神社・氏子の高齢化、健康状態、後継者不在等によって、神社維持が限界に達していることも確認されたことから、神社の隆盛と衰退は地域のそれと直接に影響し合う関係であることを指摘した。本研究におけるもう一つの対象地域である新潟県においては、昨年度に引き続き現地調査の可能な神社の概況をはじめ、県下の小規模神社や不活動神社の現況と対策などに関する情報収集を進めた。以上のように、コロナ禍の影響により文献・資料収集を中心としていた状況が改善され、部分的ではあるが高知県では人口減少と高齢化が激しい地域を対象にヒアリング調査を実施することができた。また、新潟県でも同様の地域神社を対象にした調査可能性が高まった状況になってきたことから、次年度にはそれらの調査結果の分析を行なうほか、最終報告書の作成および関連学会や研究会での発表も進める。
