项目摘要

本研究は、外国人留学生の母語や彼らが話す（または学ぶ）日本語以外の言語が、どのように彼らの日本語学習動機づけに影響するのかを明らかにすることを目的とする。初年度（平成31年度）の４月と８月に長崎外国語大学で学ぶ１０人の留学生に2回にわたりインタビュー調査を行い、翌年１月にはこのうちの２名に対して３回目のインタビューを行った。英語圏（アメリカ）の６人を第１グループ、非英語圏（韓国、台湾）の４人を第２グループと分類してインタビューデータを分析した。１回目のインタビューデータの分析から明らかになったことは、まずどちらのグループもある特定の日本文化（アニメ、武士道、芸術など）に対する興味が学習開始の原動力となっていたということである。第２グループの場合、学習者の日本文化に対する興味からバイリンガルとしてのキャリアゴール（アニメ関連の仕事など）を持つようになった。そしてそのゴールにおいては日本語が中心的な役割を果たしている傾向が見られた。一方、第１グループの場合、学習者の日本文化に対する興味は将来の仕事にはあまり関連がなかった。そして彼らの将来のバイリンガルとしてのキャリアゴール（例えば英語教師など）においては、母語である英語が中心的役割を果たす傾向が見られた。このような分析の結果をもとに論文の執筆を進めてきた。まだ研究雑誌への論文投稿には至っていないが、令和２年６月にカナダで開かれる国際学会（Psychology of Language Leaerning）において研究成果を発表する予定である。研究再開後は、第２回、第３回のインタビューデータをもとに、さらなる研究成果を公表していく予定である。

The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of foreign students 'mother tongue on their motivation for Japanese language learning.
