项目摘要

本研究の実施状況は、当初の研究目的のおおよそ２／３を達成した段階にある（２０２３年４月現在）。研究計画では、大きく２つの地域について荘園調査を行うこととしていた。すなわち、産鉄に注目した備中国の高梁川流域の荘園と、京都の距離を意識した丹波国の荘園である。同じ山間部に位置しつつも異なる地域の荘園調査を行うことで、その成果を比較し、地名の痕跡や地形について、どのような違いや共通点が見出せるかも注目すべきことであった。調査活動については、昨年度に引き続き、中世荘園の環境復原について、地名・屋号・地形・土地改変の痕跡等に注目し、歴史地理的観点から検討を行ってきた。現在までの成果を概括すると、①石清水八幡宮領備中国吉川保のうち、故地の一部となる黒山地域（旧岡山県賀陽町黒山）を中心とした周辺地域の地名・屋号調査、②祇園社領丹波国波々伯部保の故地全域の地名調査を終えている。いずれも現地調査を実施し、地名と現地景観の確認および撮影、地形の確認等を行った。①についてはおおよその調査目的を達し、情報の整理と集約を行っている。②については、調査途中であり、追加調査が必要である。なお、上記の①・②の調査過程では、地方法務局等で多くの公図を閲覧・複写した。これらは扱いに注意しつつも、研究完成と同時に構築を目指しているデータベースにても、加工を施して一部利用する予定である。すなわち、自作地図上に公図の地名情報を表示し、今後の現地調査資料として、そして地域アーカイブ情報としても利用してもらえることを期待するものである。
