令和4年度は、エチオピア国において新型コロナ感染症が収束しなかったことに加え、調査地域であるオロミア州西グジ地域の危険度がレベル４に引き上げられたことが原因で、エチオピア国における現地調査を実施することができなかった。研究計画にも大きな遅延が生じている。その中でも、国内で行える調査として、以下の3点を行った。(1)エチオピア国における政治状況に関する情報収集を、BBC, CNN, Al Jazeeraの報道をもとに行った。令和2年より、政府軍とティグレ人民解放戦線TPLFが戦闘を繰り広げてきたが、反政府民族団体9派による同盟が成立し、エチオピア南部からオロモ開放戦線OLFが進軍するなど、政府軍への攻勢を強めた。令和４年からは、オロミア州政府と連邦政府の掃討作戦が始まり、オロモ解放戦線との武力衝突や民間人の殺害が起きている。こうした紛争について網羅的にデータを収集した。(2)ボラナ県周辺における、ローカルな民族紛争や殺人などの記録収集を継続した。これは現地の調査協力者2名によって実施され、電話によって定期的に収集状況の確認をおこなったが、情報の集計まではできなかった。(3)文献を用いて文化進化論への理解を深めた。引き続き、現地の状況に合致するように公共財ゲームを改良する可能性を検討した。しかし、調査地域での武力衝突や民間人の殺害がおきている状況を考えると、オロモ解放戦線を支持する民族と、オロミア州政府を支持する民族の間の緊張が高まっていると予想され、この状況下では、他民族への非寛容、自民族への利他性が高まる一方、他民族への寛容性や、自他の民族を問わない利己性は低下すると考えられる。
