项目摘要

今回の科研費による研究は、中堅国家(middle pwer)であるアイルランド共和国の国連PKOへの参加とメリットに関しての研究であるが、その申請書の際にも書いたように、最終的には同じ中堅国家の我が国日本へのPKO政策や国際紛争への対策への提言につなげたいと考えている。これまでの研究活動の中で一番有意義であったのは、2019年に南レバノンで活動している国連PKOである、United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL)に駐留しているアイルランド隊を訪れた際の現地調査であった。その現地調査を通して"European Middle Powers' Policy towards Peacekeeping and Ireland's Multilateralism: with activism and prudence"という論文を2021年度に出版した。しかし2020年度にはコロナウィルスが蔓延したために、十分な現地調査を実施することができず、2年間延長を申請し、現地調査を実施する期間を待っていた。しかし残念ながら2022年度まで待ったがその期間が訪れることがなく、仕方なく現地調査の代わりに多くの文献を読んで論文にまとめることをにした。しかしアイルランド共和国に関する文献は少なく、日本やミドルパワーに関する紛争解決政策についてまとめるのとどまってしまった。よって最終年度も研究費を使い切ることができずに返却をした。
