项目摘要

19世紀後半に中国で登場した新たな貿易管理機構である海関は、それ以前に長期にわたり存続した清朝と東アジア・東南アジア地域との朝貢貿易をどのように引き継ぎかつ改変するかという課題に直面した。旧朝貢国の中にはシャムのように無条約国となった国があり、この条件の下で貿易関係を如何に扱うべきかをめぐり新たな対応を迫られることになった。本研究では、この無条約国との貿易に関して、初期の中国海関がいわゆる朝貢関係と条約関係の間を揺れ動いた実態を統計処理の側面から検討し、アジア近代経済史像を再構成する契機としたい。2022年度においては、主にこれまでに収集した資料の分析を中心とした研究課題の取組みを行った。即ち、研究代表者はイギリス側史料の中の、British Library, Public Record Office所蔵史料の検討を中心的に行ない、その中の香港、広州、マカオなどに関する貿易関連の史料を分析した。並行して、研究分担者は、タイ国立公文書館、タイ国立図書館などの、タイ側史料の分析を継続して実施した。これらの資料検討の成果の一部をまとめ、研究代表者はオンラインで参加した世界経済史会議において、”The 1873 Vienna World Expo and the Chinese trade statistics presented by the Chinese Maritime Customs.”の報告を行った。また研究分担者は、「国王モンクットとシャム・イギリス修好通商条約(1855)」として刊行した。

In the second half of the 19th century, China came into being as a new trade management organization. The customs department existed for a long time before the Qing Dynasty. The old tributary countries are not under treaty. This paper studies the trade relations between the non-treaty countries and the early stage of China customs relations and the dynamic state of the treaty relations. In 2022, the main task was to collect and analyze data and select research topics. That is to say, the representative of the research is to analyze the historical materials related to trade in Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Guangzhou in the Chinese and British Library and Public Records Office. In parallel, the research contributors are engaged in the analysis of historical data from the National Public Library and the National Library. The 1873 Vienna World Expo and the Chinese trade statistics presented by the Chinese Maritime Customs. The report was published. The author of the study wrote,"The King's Treaty of Peace and Friendship (1855)" and published it.
