認知症施策推進大綱では、認知症の人が自分らしく暮らし続けられる「共生」と認知症の発症や進行を遅らせる「予防」を車の両輪としている。特に認知症を介護する家族介護者への支援が強化されている。しかし、家族介護者の認知症高齢者への虐待件数は、増加傾向にある。そのため、認知症診断直後より、家族に対して適切な指導を開始し、継続して家族を支援していくことが重要である。本研究は、認知症医療センターにおいて、認知症診断直後からの家族の支援体制の構築を目的としている。2019年もの忘れ外来においてアルツハイマー型認知症の診断直後の家族を対象にインタビュー調査を実施した。その結果、介護家族は、認知症の初期症状に対する様々な困難があることを明らかにした。2022年度は、アルツハイマー型認知症以外の認知症の家族の困難や認知症医療センタースタッフの家族支援の実態を明らかにする予定であったが、コロナ禍の状況により研究を進めることが困難であった。2023年は、レビー小体認知症、前頭側頭型認知症等の診断直後の家族の思いを明らかにしていく。さらに全国の認知症医療センターへアンケート調査を実施し、家族の支援についての実態を明らかにして認知症入用センターのもの忘れ外来における診断直後の支援体制を構築していく予定である。
