2022年度は、2020年度ならびに2021年度と同様、新型コロナウイルス感染症の影響で、本研究の遂行には大きな支障が発生した。昨年度報告書にも記したように、2019年度3月に実施予定であった冬季のモンジュネーヴル峠、ならびにフランス側麓村落のブリアンソンと、近隣都市・村落と位置付けたアンブランとガプの現地調査（主に、冬季の峠の環境状況の確認、考古学調査報告書の閲覧、そして博物館収蔵品の調査）は、一旦2020年度に延期されたものの実施不可となり、2021年度、さらに2022年度へと三度延期されたが、世界的な同感染症の流行終息が見通せない状況下で実施を見送らざるをえなかった。モンジュネーヴル峠と周辺地域の現地調査を行うことは、既に現地調査済みの大・小サン・ベルナール峠とその周辺地域との比較検討の観点から重要な意味をもつが、過去2年度と同様にその調査が実施不可能であったことから、十分な研究成果を得ることは極めて困難であった。このように、2022年度は引き続き厳しい研究環境ではあったものの、その一方で、一定の研究成果発表を行うことができた。具体的には、これまでに得られた研究成果に基づき、極東証券寄附講座「歴史のなかの地中海」の一環で、「ローマ帝政前期の大・小サン・ベルナール峠：北方と地中海を結ぶ地域社会」と題した講義を本務校にて行い、履修学生に広く研究成果を紹介する機会を得た。さらに、同講義の内容を基とした講義録も、2023年5月に刊行される予定である。
