项目摘要

昨年度末に公表した論文の内容を基盤として、複数の方向に研究を発展させることができた。第一に、当該論文では大セネカによる模擬弁論著作を主として取り扱ったところ、本年度はその検討対象を他の模擬弁論史料（擬クインティリアヌス、カルプルニウス・フラックス、また帝政後期のギリシア語による複数の史料）にも広げ、より総合的な成果を発表する土台を形成した。具体的には、類型的な登場人物を模擬弁論において戦術的に活用するという営み（当該論文の主要な分析対象であった）がいずれの模擬弁論史料においても共通していることが明確となり、当該論文の分析がより広い妥当性を有していることが確認された。ただしとりわけラテン語史料とギリシア語史料との間には、類型的な人物の像に違いが存在するように思われる点も見受けられ、そこについてはさらなる詳細な分析が必要である。第二に、当該論文では課題として積み残していた法学文献史料との比較及びその分析について、基礎的な研究を開始した。本年度はまず、特にレトリックとの関係が深い問題である、法学における言葉の用法に関係する法学文献史料の分析を進めた。その中心的な存在である学説彙纂第５０巻第１６章（章題：「言葉の意義についてde verborum significatione」）は、近代以降のローマ法学においては注目度が低く、日本でも全訳すら存在していなかったが、本研究の成果として「ローマ法雑誌」上にまず全訳を公表し（２０２３年３月）、引き続き関係する分析を論文の形でまとめる予定である。
