アウトリーチの対象の一つとなる支援を求めないクライエントへの対応と倫理について検討した。文献研究の結果、まず支援を求めないクライエントとは、本人の意思ではなく、法的命令や司法措置の潜在的権威のために、ソーシャルサービスや司法サービスを受けることになった人々を指すことが多い。しかし、法的命令や司法の介在だけではなく、わが国の場合、近隣住民からの何らかの圧力や、社会福祉機関などによる接触の機会を図る必要がある人々も含まれるものと考えられる。支援を求めないクライエントには、ソーシャルワーカーがモデリングと強化のプロセスを通して、クライエントに影響を与える方法が着目され、倫理的な側面、すなわちクライエントに適切な倫理的規範を示し、必要な支援を提供することの重要性の観点から、この問題を検討する示唆が得られた。近年、とくにヴァルネラブルな立場にある人々への対応に有益とされているのが、「人間の尊厳」と「ケアの倫理」という２つの視座があることがわかった。
