本研究は、看護におけるコミュニケーションに関する基礎研究である。患者と看護師のコミュニケーションの中でも、臨床場面で接することの多い「痛み」に関する言葉に焦点を当てている。患者と看護師のコミュニケーションにおいて、看護師は受容的態度に基づく『傾聴』を通して、患者の「痛み」に関する言葉を文字通り受け止める。その際、患者の発する「痛み」を表す言葉を看護師がどのように受け止め、看護の支援に活用しているかは看護師個人の力量に依存する場合が多いように思われる。これまでの研究には、痛みを訴えやすい患者のパーソナリティについてなどの報告はあるが、患者からの「痛み」の訴えを受け止める立場にある看護師についての研究はほとんど見られないという現状がある。そこで本研究では、看護援助の中での患者－看護師コミュニケーションにおいて「痛み」に関する言葉の用いられ方や受け止め方について、ケアの実践者である看護師の個人的背景の関与に注目して、明らかにすることを目的としている。昨年度に引き続き、看護に限らず広く「痛み」の表現に関する先行研究の再確認を行った。加えて、小規模ながら質問紙調査を実施した。「痛み」が日常生活に影響する程度について異なる９場面を設定し、「痛み」の表現15語の使われ方の程度に関してデータの収集を行った。併せてそのような場面での「痛み」表現の使用頻度がエゴグラムによる性格傾向と関係あるか検討した。その結果、「痛み」によって影響される程度の異なる9場面で「痛み」表現の使用頻度は異なっていた。性格傾向に関しては、9つの場面と使用する「痛み」表現でエゴグラムにおけるAdultの側面との間に負の相関を示すものがあったが、全体の傾向として把握できるような結果ではなかった。ただし、対象者が限られていた結果であるため、次年度データの集積を継続する予定である。
