本研究は、がん終末期患者における地域連携の質を評価する新たな指標を開発することを目的として、がん終末期患者を対象に、東北6県におけるがん診療拠点病院における緩和ケアの地域連携状況と、遺族調査による患者QOL評価との関連を解析し、緩和ケア地域連携の質を評価する新たな指標の開発を計画したものである。2019年度は、立案した研究計画の実効性を確認、更にブラッシュアップを行うために、東北地域において緩和ケアの主導的役割を担う医療機関を中心に研究チーム(東北緩和ケアレジストリリサーチチームと命名し、岩手医科大学附属病院をはじめ、東北大学附属病院、秋田大学附属病院、山形県 立中央病院ほか)と 研究の方向性について議論を深めた。2018年度に研究の前段階として、リサーチチーム所属施設において、緩和ケア地域連携を行なった患者のレジストリシステムを構築する必要性が確認された。このことから、レジストリ主要登録項目(症状(ESAS)、緩和ケア病期(Phase of illness: PoI)、AKPS (Australian- modified Karnofsky PS) 、IPOS (Integrated Palliative Outcome Scale)を選定することとした。 2020年4月7日に岩手医科大学倫理委員会より、本研究の倫理申請が承認された(MH2020-003)。この結果を中央審査とした。 しかし、2020年2月から始まった新型コロナウイルス感染拡大を受け、各参加施設において緩和ケア関係の臨床状況の変化(緩和ケア病棟の閉鎖、緩和ケア病棟のコロナ病棟への変換など)が生じたことから、研究開始ならびに研究遂行困難と判断し、各研究協力頂く方々との協議の上、2020年度、2021年度、2022年度は研究を休止せざるを得ない状況が続いていた。2023年度に入り、ようやく新型コロナウイルスの影響が軽減する目処が立ってきたため、改めて研究を推進したいと考えている。
